You'll pay
There's a bank commercial on the radio, that in a very self serving way talks about how they have waived all credit card and mortgage payments (for now) of anyone in the region effected by the hurricane. How exactly a person who lost everything including their home& job would make a house payment is beside the point. It sounds nice enough until the very end when the little disclaimer voice says 'interest will continue to accrue during the deferred period'
Nice! We will still be screwing you, even as you sleep in the Astro dome.
Couldn't waive that interest for a few months huh? Sweet. This does not surprise me, but the fact that they would advertise it does.

Conspicously absent on the "we'll be there to help" ads capitalizing on Katrina are those from the insurance industry.
I'm sure they're preparing for a full scale screwing of home owners who've paid them premiums for decades by purporting that this was an "act of God" that isn't covered under home owner policies. Maybe that's true, but God wasn't responsible for building weak levees to protect the city.
